Similpedia

Similpedia is a new search engine that searches Wikipedia exclusively. You have to enter a url or a paragraph of information for it to work; just a phrase won’t do it. I’d rather it search for any thing including a single term, but it could still have its uses.

Read the Mashbable review.

Webware Announces Top 100 Web Apps

Webware, a CNET site, has announced the results of their poll to determine the “top 100 Webware sites for 2007.”Webware Top 100

I didn’t participate in the poll but thought I would take a quick look to see which of these sites/tools I use.

  • Browsing: Internet Explorer and Firefox.
  • Communications: Gmail.
  • Community: MySpace, DeviantArt. I’m on LinkedIn somewhere, but I wouldn’t say that I use it.
  • Data: Google, YouSentIt
  • Entertainment: None. I guess I need to get out more.
  • Media: YouTube.
  • Mobile: None. I use my phone to make calls, silly me.
  • Productivity: eBay, Amazon, PayPal, Google Docs and Spreadsheets, Google Calendar, Google AdSense. Wow, I hit a bunch on that one. I guess I’m very productive.
  • Publishing: WordPress, Google Analytics,
  • Reference: Wikipedia, Google Maps, IMDB, WebMD, Geni.
  • So obviously there is a lot more stuff out there that I should check out. And of course, there is other stuff I am using that didn’t make the top of the list. We’ll be talking about all of that in the days ahead. So what are you using?
